Letter from the Chair

Dear ASRM NPG Members,

I am honored and delighted to have the opportunity to serve as the Chair of the Nurses Professional Group (NPG) for the 2022-2023 term. I am excited to continue working with the talented and dedicated members of the NPG Executive Committee to implement the mission of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) and to accelerate the endeavors of the NPG group.

This is an exciting time to be a member of NPG! We are happy to report successfully submitting an application to NCC (National Certification Corporation) for reinstatement of the certification exam. The application was approved as a “sub-specialty” exam meaning that it is open to nurses, APRNs, PAs and MDs. We are always looking for those who would be interested in contributing to the development of the exam, if you are interested, we would love to hear from you!

We are also eager to see the implementation of a “bootcamp” for new REI nurses. Called NRCKs, this program is offered by ASRM. Past NPG scope of practice studies found that most respondents reported receiving "observational on-the-job" training as new REI care coordinators, while only 40.54% reported having a formal orientation. This program hopes to help the new REI nurse coordinator become more confident as they navigate our specialty.

This year NPG also granted our first NPG Prize Paper Award. The purpose of this award is to recognize outstanding research conducted by nurses and comes with a prize check as well as one year of free ASRM and NPG membership. This is a small way to recognize the excellent research nurses are conducting to the advancement of our field.

With all these exhilarating endeavors on the horizon, there has never been a better time to be an NPG member.

Sincerely,

Caitlin Hebert, BSN, RN

NPG Executive Board Chair
